Veteran Metal Pioneer, Bob Muldowney, dies at 44 ( and we are sorry if this is old news...)
We only found out about Bob's passing today.

Bob and his crew at KICK*ASS played a major role in the history making of the 80's metal scenes -- and in OUR collective lives here at the Wolfhouse.
R.I.P. Bob.

Please consider sending KICK*ASS staff writers and family some love.
Thanks for your time.

JT and Rick
Veteran Metal Pioneer, Bob Muldowney, dies at 44
Current mood: numb

Influential heavy metal journalist Bob Muldowney died Monday, November 5 after a long battle with cardiomyopathy (heart muscle disease). He was 44 years old.

Muldowney was best known for his fanzine/magazine KICK*ASS which helped expose, support and feature such bands as RAVEN, MOTÖRHEAD, VENOM, THE RODS, TANK, EXCITER and RIOT. As well as the burgeoning underground thrash scene, giving, in some instances, the first coverage to SLAYER, MEGADETH, MEDIEVAL, OVERKILL, and ANTHRAX. Muldowney was also one of the first journalists to expose the death metal scene in its infancy, giving early press to SODOM, HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST, DESTRUCTION and BATHORY. It was Bob's love of true, honest metal, which drove him to deliver a demo tape of a then-unknown California band called METALLICA into the hands of then-Rock 'n' Roll Heaven store owner (and future Megaforce Records head honcho) Jonny Z — who was advertising with KICK*ASS at the time.

Bob's brutally honest approach in his coverage helped KICK*ASS develop a deep, loyal following who viewed his writings as "the metal bible." However, financial and distribution difficulties overtook the magazine and the final issue of KICK*ASS appeared in the fall of 1986.

Prior to his passing, Muldowney and fellow KICK*ASS writer Mike Hannon had begun work on a DVD history of KICK*ASS Magazine in collaboration with former OVERKILL drummer-turned-director Rat Skates. Muldowney and Hannon have also re-exposed Kick*Ass' history on this official MySpace site.

For those of you who haven't seen it. Here is Tom Araya's mention of Bob in the old Combat video, "The Ultimate Revenge".

Check out my pride and joy!!! I no longer have any guitars or the time to play if I did and decided to sell off my old treasures. I hate to let it go, but I have no reason to hang onto it any more. Read my spiel, it speaks for itself.

Metallica premiered a brand new song during their headlining appearance Tuesday (June 6) at Waldbuhne in Berlin, Germany. According to several fans that attended the gig, the as-yet-untitled track is about eight minutes long with a "killer main riff" and "lots of double-bass parts." Here are few videos and mp3 file with this song

"METALLICA"-1981 Demo-"No Life 'Till Leathür" ~Limited Edition 1,000 copies made~

Yeah I guess they do kick ass...even now in their old age. But I haven't rocked-out to them in ages! So I want to sell my old school Dayz Metal memorabilia to some one who still bangs their head or to a collector that isn't as hungry as I...~ I am looking for either a vinyl record collector and/or a true Metallica fan because I have an ultra-rare 3 song LP demo from 1981 of Metallica entitled "No Life 'Till Leathür", featuring Dave Mustaine on guitar before Kirk Hammond was in the band! It is a "Limited Edition 1,000 Copies"...this is one(1) of the thousand(1000) in existance! -It is unopened and in perfect condition as it was on the store shelf.
Side 1) Metal Militia
Side 2) Jump In The Fire - Phantom Lord
So if you or anyone you know might be interested in making a deal for this or a good few other hard to find Metalli-belia, contact me. I'm not in the sales line of buisness at all, I am just a old school metal fan from the '80s & '90s with a vast collection of Heavy Metal Memories for $ale.
If interested, I can email photos of the album~
-Email me at:

One of my most favorite songs of all time.

Welcome to where time stands still
No one leaves and no one will
Moon is full, never seems to change
Just labeled mentally deranged
Dream the same thing every night
I see our freedom in my sight
No locked doors, no windows barred
No things to make my brain seem scarred

Sleep, my friend, and you will see
That dream is my reality
They keep me locked up in this cage
Can't they see it's why my brain says “rage”

Sanitarium, leave me be
Sanitarium, just leave me alone

Build my fear of what's out there
Cannot breathe the open air
Whisper things into my brain
Assuring me that I'm insane
They think our heads are in their hands
But violent use brings violent plans
Keep him tied, it makes him well
He's getting better, can't you tell?

No more can they keep us in
Listen, damn it, we will win
They see it right, they see it well
But they think this saves us from our hell

Sanitarium, leave me be
Sanitarium, just leave me alone
Sanitarium, just leave me alone

Fear of living on
Natives getting restless now
Mutiny in the air
Got some death to do
Mirror stares back hard
“Kill,” it's such a friendly word
Seems the only way

SKOM double DVD

Hi fellas! Just joined the tribe.

I got my SKOM DVD on the 24th! I've already seen the documentary (and it's GREAT) but I'm really looking forward to see this DVD and all the extra material.

Unfortunately... I can't watch it yet! I've made a pact with a friend of mine that we'll watch it together and we can't meet until the 5:th of february. Can you understand how frustrating it is to have the DVD laying around for two weeks without watching it!! *pull my hair*
;)

Anyway, Metallica rocks etc.

Metallica has just kicked off their North American tour. Has anyone seen them yet?

I'm curious as to how long they are going to play and what is on their set list. Same goes for Godsmack, although they are not quite as important.

I joined this tribe for one reason: to proclaim that the new documentary film, Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, by Joe Berlinger & Bruce Sinofsky, rocks! It is the best music documentary film I have ever seen. If you want to know what went on during the making of St. Anger, check this one out. Man, I have a lot of respect for those guys after seeing this, but I'm sure you all love their music way more than I do. They play Helsinki tomorrow night and I think I'll go and just listen outside the stadium. Cheers!

Hi All. Just thought I'd post because I recently saw my 11th MetallicA show. AND I met James for the 2nd time!! They just played in the German town that I live in. I did the Met Club online lottery for a backstage Meet and Greet Pass. I WON! I've met them before with Met Club Meet and Greet Passes in the states. I've posted some of my pics from this experience too. This is the absolute best reason to join the fan club. I've still got perma-grin!! :)

Check out my main photo and also photos in the album for this tribe!

Would love to hear other people experiences with meeting them. James and I talked about the Symphony concert (I saw the 2nd night in Berkley). :):):):)

Who's excited for this? Metallica and Godsmack, should be a great show, but most likely hard as hell to get tickets for. The only places released so far are on the West Coast, so I guess I'll have to wait until something is said about the East Coast.

Oh well, it'll be worth it.

I'm a die hrad fan who likes every single album all the way from Kill 'em all to St.Anger. Give jaymz Hetfield in any aspect and you have a happy fan!
No one can produce like these guys and no one can touch them.
Without MetallicA we wouldn't have alot of the music we have nowadays.
I miss Cliff and Jason but Rob is doing a great job and I'm sorry to say this, but I didn't like him at first. After seeing them play there hearts out and knowing what Rob has brought to the band... I think Rob has been the best choice for a bassist. They couldn't have done any better!
